Mexico City, city guide, 5 days
Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the Americas, and trying to see it all misses the point — it’s better understood as a collection of distinct neighbourhoods. Roma and Condesa hold the best independent coffee and restaurant scene in tree-lined, walkable streets; Coyoacán (Frida Kahlo’s home neighbourhood, Casa Azul museum) has a colonial-town feel despite sitting inside the metro area; Centro Histórico anchors the city’s history around the Zócalo and Templo Mayor’s Aztec ruins, excavated directly in the modern city center.
The city’s museum density rivals Paris or London — the Anthropology Museum alone justifies a full day, while Chapultepec Park (larger than Central Park) holds several more within walking distance of each other.
Altitude here runs about 7,350 feet — noticeably higher than most visitors expect from a coastal-adjacent destination, worth pacing the first day or two accordingly.
Typical range: $70–$220 per night depending on neighbourhood.
Sephari’s Curated Travel Outfits collection has the versatile layers this altitude and city’s variable daytime-to-evening temperatures call for.
